We see a world in which everyone expresses themselves through space. By standing against objects without context, spaces without stories, and waste without worth — we endeavor to empower everyone to create a space that moves them.
After emptying her savings account for a pre-war studio in Central Harlem, founder Tenlie Mourning struggled to decorate her space — despite a degree in Architecture from Columbia.
From her years of working in the beauty category, Tenlie craved the cult-like communities and conversations driving commerce in the beauty space and searched for the equivalent as she tried to decorate her space.
Turns out, it didn’t exist.
In February 2021 we launched the first curated directory of vintage sellers, proved that our point of view resonates with a new generation of homemakers who are redefining what home means to them. We have built a community of hundreds of these people — vintage enthusiasts and independent curators — who have asked us to build the next commerce solution for buying, selling, and reselling vintage decor — and that is exactly what we are setting out to do.
Dendwell is building the first social marketplace for vintage furniture and decor. We help people discover, shop, share, and resell vintage decor in their style, while empowering a select class of vintage curators to build their brands. We are among the first to imagine vintage decor shopping as social.
Dendwell is built on a foundation of intentionality and authenticity. We are building our product and our brand to help our community foster these qualities in their spaces, and thus we work this way too.
Built and led by a diverse founding team of women, BIPOC, LGBTQ+-identifying individuals from a wide range of cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds, diversity is core to our culture and imperative for our future. We prioritize creating a safe space for qualified individuals of all backgrounds to do their best work.
